Questions

Quick answers for students and parents

All questions
What is a student visa?

A student visa lets you travel to another country to study at an accredited institution. Most international students need one, and the exact rules depend on the country.

Which documents are usually needed?

Commonly an admission or offer letter, passport, proof of funds, health insurance, academic records and language test results. We give you a country-specific checklist.

How long does a visa take?

From a few weeks to a few months depending on the country and season, so apply early. Always confirm current timelines on the official embassy or consulate website.

Can I work while studying in Australia?

Students can usually work a limited number of hours per fortnight during term and full time in scheduled breaks, unless their visa says otherwise. We confirm the current limit when you apply.

What is OSHC?

Overseas Student Health Cover is health insurance that most student visa holders in Australia must buy for the length of their visa.

What do I need to study in Canada?

Generally an acceptance letter, proof of funds, a valid passport, a medical exam where required and possibly English or French test results.
